Bachelor’s Degree in related field required. The Entity Compliance Officer (“ECO”) is responsible for managing the implementation of MedStar Health’s Compliance and Privacy program and overseeing the operation of that function in one or more assigned facility. The ECO will also serve as the privacy liaison for their facility. The ECO’s general duties and responsibilities encompass implementing MedStar Health’s annual compliance work plans, systems, processes and policies designed to ensure compliance with Federal healthcare program requirements at the entity level. The Compliance Lead will be based at the assigned local entity or entities.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years experience in healthcare compliance matters, preferably for a large healthcare system or teaching hospital with exposure to compliance and billing regulations impacting skilled nursing, rehabilitation and cardiology services. Experience in conducting investigations, performance of coding and billing reviews and auditing. In depth knowledge of healthcare compliance and privacy laws, regulations, and guidance.

This position will primarily support MedStar Union Memorial Hospital and MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital and Nursing Center. Travel between facilities is required.

Job Summary

Performs administrative and clinical duties under the direct on-site supervision and delegation of a physician in an ambulatory setting.

Qualifications

Education: High school graduation or equivalent; completion of an approved Medical Assistant program preferred.

Qualifications

LICENSE/CERT/REG: Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Instructor certification plus either

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Assists in the clinical and marketing efforts of the Clinical Simulation Center.

policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation

regulations.

Maintains instruction/training aids and equipment.

Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams and committees. Participates in

meetings and on committees as requested.

Participates in other quality education programs for healthcare providers, including In Situ, Advanced

refresher courses and conferences.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Plans and instructs Continuing Education Courses for healthcare professionals and lay rescuer within the

AHA guidelines.

Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Physical Requirements

Job Summary

Serves as the initial contact person at the medical practice and greets patients in a courteous and professional manner. Makes appointments, registers patients, collects co-payments, updates demographic and insurance information, and provides patients with follow-up appointments and requisitions for tests.

Qualifications

Education: High school graduation or equivalent; completion of a medical terminology course preferred. EXPERIENCE: 1 year experience in a medical record setting preferred; 1 year experience in a medical office or ambulatory health setting preferred.

LICENSE/CERT/REG: CPR certification preferred.

Skills: Ability to type 40 words per minute. Basic computer skills preferred.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Assists with maintaining supply inventory.

Attends all scheduled meetings including, but not limited to regular staff meetings and training classes for safety, infection control, OSHA, CPR, and others as required.

Completes the registration/chart preparation process which includes the following: Determines patient's method of payment and verifies insurance (i.e., EVS, memberchek, etc.) Collects copayment and enters any payments into the system. Updates patient demographic and billing information. Preregisters patients as necessary. Updates patient demographic and billing information in the system.

Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.

Coordinates billing procedures (including the input of charges) and collects payment for fee-for- service/commercial insurance patients. Must perform end of shift reconciliation.

Demonstrates behavior consistent with MedStar Health mission, vision, goals, objectives and patient care philosophy.

Identifies obvious emergencies and alerts appropriate staff.

Maintains referral log/referral tracking system and distributes to appropriate provider and/or department. Maintains the reception desk/waiting area in a neat and orderly fashion.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Prepares, updates, and copies forms, reports, and records on a routine basis.

Provides outreach for missed appointments. Monitors and tracks no shows and enters data into the system. Receives patients and determines the reason for visiting the primary care health center. Distinguishes whether the patient is a walk-in or scheduled appointment and provides appropriate forms.

Customer service representatives make a positive difference by answering all incoming calls to MedStar Visiting Nurse Association. The calls received from patients/physicians/clinicians are assessed for urgency and forwarded to appropriate area of service. This position makes preadmission calls to patients and physicians and places follow-up calls to assess experience levels.

Responsibilities:

Assesses and identifies caller needs and / or problems with efficiency, courtesy, and documents completely. Completes call processing in a timely manner. Remains aware of call volumes and prioritizes calls per contractual service levels. Works as part of the Team to handle unexpected or planned peaks of call volumes.

Demonstrates behavior consistent with MedStar Health mission, vision, goals, objectives and patient care philosophy.

Ensures complete communication (closes the loop and follow up) between key customer groups, including internal and external customers.

Processes telephone inquiries and offers options with accurate knowledge of specific program goals, physician, hospital and community services. Maintains functional knowledge of customer programs and expectations.

Promotes successful marketing of MedStar Visiting Nurse Association and MedStar Health system by projecting a positive image on the phone to internal / external customers and in the community. Represents the best of MedStar Health at all times and to all customers.

Serves as the primary backup for patient appointment scheduling initiatives. Answers calls and schedules appointments in accordance with established guidelines. Disseminates messages to agency staff in an appropriate and timely manner.

Qualifications

Education: High school graduation or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: 1 year related experience.
Skills: Ability to type 40 words per minute. Basic computer skills, including familiarity with MS Word and Excel. Ability to use multiple computer intake and scheduling systems. Ability to operate standard office equipment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
